Tropical Storm Gert Recap

Tropical Storm Gert formed from a tropical wave that emerged into the Atlantic from the west coast of Africa on August 14. Despite battling high vertical wind shear, the system organized into Tropical Storm Gert on August 20. However, wind shear increased further, weakening Gert to a tropical depression by the next day. The storm eventually degenerated into a remnant low on August 22 and drifted slowly northward into the central Atlantic.

After the remnants of Gert were monitored for redevelopment, the system regenerated into Tropical Depression Gert on August 31 and became a tropical storm once again on September 1. Gert's winds reached 60 mph on September 3 before deteriorating and degenerating into a remnant low on September 4, shortly before being absorbed into Post-Tropical Cyclone Idalia. The storm's intensity fluctuated throughout its lifecycle, facing various environmental challenges while moving north-northeastward in the Atlantic.
