Tropical Storm Jose Recap

Tropical Storm Jose formed on August 29 as a result of a low-pressure area developing off the west coast of Africa and meandering southeast of Bermuda. The storm struggled to organize initially, but eventually strengthened into a tropical storm on August 31 with maximum sustained winds of 65 mph. However, the intensification was short-lived as the storm began to weaken due to northerly shear from Hurricane Franklin's outflow and was eventually absorbed into Franklin late on September 1.

Despite its short lifespan and limited banding features, Tropical Storm Jose was able to peak as a tropical storm before being absorbed into Hurricane Franklin. The storm's development was slow, with its structure improving markedly early on September 1 before weakening due to unfavorable shear conditions. Ultimately, Jose's existence ended as it was pulled northward by the stronger Hurricane Franklin, approximately 1,450 km northeast of Bermuda.
