Hurricane Leslie Recap

Hurricane Leslie, a Category 2 hurricane, formed from a tropical wave off the coast of West Africa in early October. The system gradually organized, becoming Tropical Storm Leslie on October 2 and strengthening to a Category 1 hurricane by October 5. Leslie fluctuated in intensity over the following days, weakening back to a tropical storm before re-strengthening into a Category 2 hurricane on October 10.

Leslie's path took it over warmer waters, allowing it to intensify before weakening again due to northerly wind shear on October 11. The storm continued to weaken as its convective activity shifted south of the center, leaving the center exposed. Overall, Hurricane Leslie lasted from October 2 to October 12 and peaked with maximum sustained winds of 105 mph and a minimum pressure of 972 mbar.
