Tropical Storm Arlene Recap

Tropical Storm Arlene formed in early June as a result of an area of low pressure that developed over the eastern Gulf of Mexico. The storm reached peak intensity with sustained winds of 40 mph before weakening to a tropical depression and eventually dissipating as a remnant low west of Key West, Florida. Arlene brought significant rainfall to Central and South Florida, with some areas receiving up to 9.82 inches of precipitation.

The remnants of Arlene also caused severe thunderstorms in Southern Florida, with wind gusts of 70 mph reported and resulting in damage to an apartment building. Despite the damage, the rainfall brought by Arlene was beneficial in alleviating drought conditions in the region. Additionally, the storm dropped precipitation on several islands in the Bahamas, with the most significant amount recorded in Cockburn Town. Overall, Tropical Storm Arlene had a significant impact on Florida and the Bahamas during its brief lifespan.
