Hurricane Francine Recap

Hurricane Francine formed in the Central Tropical Atlantic and eventually made landfall in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana as a Category 2 hurricane with peak winds of 100 mph. The system initially began as a tropical wave producing disorganized showers, but became more organized as it crossed into the Bay of Campeche. Despite encountering higher wind shear, Francine continued to strengthen and rapidly intensified as it moved northeastwards.

After making landfall, Hurricane Francine quickly weakened into a tropical storm and then a tropical depression before becoming a remnant low. Flooding occurred along the Northeast Gulf of Mexico, and oil and gas production in the Gulf were disrupted. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported as a result of Francine's impact.
